While framing up an abstract section of a rock formation the image smiled back at me. Cropping tighter revealed to me what I perceived as the face of a friendly dinosaur. The ability to recognize  objects and the brains desire to organize shapes and tones into recognizable things is amazing. Wether seeing animals in clouds or faces in tree trunks, it’s fun and always a visual adventure. One large shape becomes the big round nose and the long crack showing no teeth becomes the lips of a friendly smile. The small hole in the upper rock creates the eye and tiny white rocks outline the eyelid. I perceived a dinosaur’s smiling face…..this phenomena is called “Pareidolia” and I find it fascinating. This word comes from the Greek meaning “resembling an image.” I am sure this has happened to most of you at one time or another. I see it as actually seeing verses only looking. Is it Dino from the Flintstones or Barney from the children’s programs? I just preferred to call him Tony.

Jennifer Bishop up that too. When you rotate the image even more apparent.

You have an eye for spotting living creatures in inanimate objects. Like taking one of those colored dot tests to check for color blindness.

I see the eye bulging outward and then it flips to a depression.
