An interesting side trip in Montana lead me to this image. Driving around the lake with some buddies, and whoa… stop the car! I jumped out and started framing compositions.

Of course the question is what the hell is this private signage all about? Someone surely had a commitment to the idea being presented here. I pass no judgement about the pros or cons of smoking, that is not my role as a photographer. Rather I record the incongruities I see in the world, and let the audience make there own interpretations.

The signage was attached to a storage building right along busy Highway 93, significant as it pertains to the intention of the person behind this “advertisement”, wanting an audience themselves to display this notion. I believe there is a large amount of irony here, it almost feels like a lie this person might have been told that resulted in a health issue. Who knows.
