There are several palm trees across the street from my apartment which are visible from the balcony. There are two that are more closely spaced than the others, and in the middle of a long row. They seem to be paired and from the first time I saw them, I thought about my parents…their lifelong journey together… and I along with my Sister, were the product of that relationship. The one captured in this image has always represented my Mom. Not perfectly shaped, a little shorter than the ‘Dad’ tree, she always sways sweetly in the ocean breezes. I was intrigued by the clouds on this particular day and how the Sun was magnified by their patterns. I casually grabbed this image and not until a few days later did I inspect it more closely and notice the ‘Orb’. It is widely held in Spiritual traditions dating back 1000’s of years, that Orbs are Angelic Presence and specifically of one’s ancestors. As a photographer, I’ve shot plenty of images with Sun Flare, and occasionally have seen ‘orb like’ shapes as part of that diffraction of light through a lens. I don’t ever recall seeing such a perfectly circular and vividly colored Orb as the one you see here. Her name was Helen, and she definitely had ‘Flair’. See where I’m going with this?
