Jeremy Green “Pretty in Pink” 01/17/19

It’s probably safe to say that most photographers started out by being permitted the freedom to venture out into the world with a camera to explore and discover their point of view, willy-nilly, come what may. My earliest foray with a camera of my own was at the Seattle World’s Fair. My father and I visited the Eastman Kodak Pavilion where we bought a Kodak Brownie Fiesta camera for $6. That was my start in a long life in photography. The pictures from that camera were all mine, and there was a lot of mystery in the whole process. I remember the first frame I shot with it, which was a picture of a manmade waterfall with my father standing in front “for scale” at his suggestion.

Venturing out to find pictures is still a necessity for most of us. For some of the lucky ones it’s the heart of their profession. For all of us it’s that process of discovery and creation that brings joy, love, a sense of self, and sometimes prosperity to our lives.

This picture was found while I was walking aimlessly with my camera one day.
