Martin Trailer “In Memory of” 10-28-2018

Time does not stop for anyone.  Today at Jay Ahrend’s celebration of life, I caught this iPhone shot of Eliot Crowley sharing a memory of his about Jay.  The projected image behind Eliot is Jay in his youth.  The random light above was as if Jay was just hanging out with us. Jay was one of the original players here at the Daily Photo Game. Great memories shared by all.  RIP Jay.

I am sorry to miss this presentation in Jay’s honor. We were Birthday pals, and actually
celebrated our mutual bday before he passed. We had balloons and cake and he blew out the
candles. A truly fine and honorable man, a great artist and super friend.. I think of him often and
will continue to do so. He is gone from my sight but never my heart and memories.
Bless you Jay!

Jay and I were classmates at The Art Center College of Design. We stayed friendly over the years even though I did most of my photo career in Dallas, Texas. Whenever I came out to LA I usually caught with Jay & his lovely wife Sue and stayed often with them at their home in Long Beach. We talked often on the phone and always exchanged Christmas greetings. Lovely Sue passed from cancer over 10 years ago and I was so happy when Jay met Dianne. We visited LA in 2016 and got to meet Dianne when we met at Art Center College of design to show the school off to my wife and Jay’s fiancé Dianne. What a great guy Jay was, I don’t think I ever heard anyone say a bad word about him, a real salt of the earth guy and talented photographer. I was so sad that Dianne and Jay did not have long together. Jay and Sue had such a great marriage together, I was happy he had met someone like her. Jay you were just the best. We all loved you.

Great afternoon spent with family and friends of Jay. Beautiful memory for someone I never had the chance to meet in person.

Such a wonderful presentation, it made me realize our collective grief at the loss of dear gentle Jay Ahrend.
Thank you for this Celebration of Jay.
