I cannot remember a time when I did not see shapes: faces in rocks, creatures in clouds and vegetables in trees. The first moment I saw this tree, I thought of ‘Broccoli’. The fact that it’s green was not a contributing factor. There was something about the outline itself that led me to extrapolate. As I processed this image, I was taken back to the days of Polaroid Transfers where I would take a negative from a Polaroid print, and squeegee the inks onto what at the time we called ‘art paper’. There was always an interesting and unpredictable border created by pulling the two elements apart, after the development time had expired. I added several affects as an homage to this time gone by. I wonder, do people who are not ‘visually oriented’ see the same things I do?
