I have passed this house hundreds of times over the years and  is my favorite way to go home. A major renovation had just been completed and I had noticed the For Sale sign had been down for a couple of days. On this particular day as I passed this house it was being fumigated and entirely covered with tarps that had a delightful circus feel to the colors. The feeling that I needed to photograph this location was strong. The overcast early morning light was not what I had in mind for this image. The decision was made to come back later in the day when the sun had changed it’s position. On my return, with camera in hand I positioned myself under the shade of a tree across the street and waited for the light. The original idea was to create pictures without any people in the frame, but as I waited several people passed by. Dog walkers, older couples, kids running and some people on bikes were just a few of the individuals that passed by my set up. Change of concept….I now wanted a figure in the frame. Upon seeing a lone rider on the sidewalk coming towards the left hand side of the frame, a slower shutter speed was chosen to show just the slightest amount of blur of the young rider with in the frame. Six captures later a final was chosen and the rest was finished in processing. Sometimes one has to roll with the changes, be felxible and open to adding new ideas into the original concept. I still made captures of the location sans any people, but I felt that my choice of adding the rider provided proportion and scale to the image.
