Inspiration can come from anywhere. If you find yourself at a loss of what to make photographs of try something new. Read a book, listen to some music, visit an art gallery. Shapes, lines, and textures always attract my eye. It is a classic assignment in most photography schools. This image is part of a huge sculpture piece inside a museum. You could walk literally through it in a never ending curve, one way and then the other. Always looking just beyond the vertical horizon as it approached. My camera was working overtime while I experienced this wonderful, giant piece of metal. There is no real narrative level for this photograph only a depictive level. That’s one of the things about abstract photography. I was attracted to the shapes, lines, and textures. Hey, but that’s ok too. If you have a camera in your hand you will most likely find a photograph you will want to take. That’s the second tip on shaking the idea of what to shoot. Trying something new is always a good place to start.
