Rather than creating this photograph by using a straightforward approach, a more artistic and abstract one was used. Understanding how light reacts with water four elements that are consistent with water imagery were brought to play. Light entering water is bent making submerged objects visually distorted by what is called light refraction. Throw in motion to the water and the object is further distorted making the object appear to be liquefied. Now add in a third element of reflection, in this case the sky, and the surface of the water takes on interesting shapes and colors. The forth is produced by hard sun light hitting the undulating upper surface of the water projecting both highlights and shadows on the bottom surface of the pool. While the captured image cannot be completely controlled by the photographer, as the action of the water is random and non-repeatable, the results can be somewhat predictable and fascinating
