I love light. God’s light as it streams into my room in the early morning through a skylight in my bedroom or creeps through our plantation shutters to create harsh shadows on our table in the family room and I live for the late afternoon sunlight as it silhouettes the kids in the neighborhood playing. I love to capture the subtle nuances of beautiful light on my subjects. My son is also fascinated with light but not in the same way as I am. He is obsessed with artificial light. Disco balls and prisms and light bulbs that change color with music are his obsession.  Today, I asked him to help me create an image with a shadow and he grabbed his segway and started heading toward the sun as I followed with my lens. I was amazed as he planted himself in a place on the street that the flare from the afternoon sun obliterated him and he created shadows by simply moving and grooving to the music as the sun set around him framing a perfect shot.
