Objectivity is the theme of my image, that is to say visually glorifying an everyday object to heighten our awareness of it. Such is the case with this photograph of a singular banana. The image is a curious dance between the linear and the curvaceous. Viewed from this camera point of view, the banana looses its familiar form, but the shadow brings truth to the banana’s dimensional lie. The strong single source lighting flattens the background in such away that the banana feels like it is distanced from the background, but again, the shadow grounds the reality of the illusion and the form. I am intrigued with visual perception, the trick of light and lens on an object. Its simplicity is its strength, unadorned, unembellished. It is what it is.
