Spatial relationships have been the visual path for The Game for the last few days. When I saw the way Blue’s image of Peaches played beautifully off of Eliot’s Agave, I saw an opening. And yes, there is a visual pun in the making here… Lines, edges, the way light defines the borders between objects  is one of my favorite ‘features’ of the world as I observe it. Most of us are familiar with the term ‘subliminal’, but perhaps fewer are accustomed to the root of that word. “Liminal” refers to the space between. This threshold can be of phase or time but always represents an intermediate state or condition. The shafts of Agave, for instance. Or two peaches on a slab of salt. In my image, the gap between a gate and the fence it allows passage through; a shiny metallic spring bridging the chasm that may as well be miles-wide from a macro point of view. The little things that we pass by every day when taken in their own context, can be rich metaphors for so much more than they seem to be.
