Almost all black and white images with white spaces have been a repetitive theme lately. The abstraction of the shapes against the subject or even the shapes being the subject, repeated for a few days. Ken’s work with the mannequin and what look like little white lights surrounding her face reminded me of a recent image I have made. Following along with the white spaces being an important element I have chosen this image. The white glow from all of the openings of the room speak to the lights, surrounding of the subject reminiscent of Ken’s lights around his face. The black and white or almost monochromatic ceiling of the room blending seamlessly into the color of the carpet also references the photo before. Here the departure is becoming clear. From a mannequin to a real woman. The blend into or back to color of the image. A wide look with passive framing of the room from a very close and actively framed image. This is the first real human form used in this new year of the Daily Photo Game. This too is a departure from what we have seen so far, but I think this photograph speaks to where we have been and wonder how it will influence our future. This being Memorial Day I know this is not a typical idea for that celebration. A flag or veteran would have been more appropriate. But the game demands I speak to the previous day’s posting. However, as far as memory on a personal note, this was made in the living room of my family’s home of 56 years. Sadly, we have just sold this grand estate. It will live in my memory as a room filled with wonderful times, and now has a place in our game.
