Robert Nease “A Second Look” 04/20/18

Earlier in the day as I was scouting a location to create a new image for the game, I came across this puddle of water. As I was walking around on the parking structure a blue reflection caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. This little reflective pool was on the very top of a parking structure directly across the street from the building being scouted. Moving around I saw the reflection of the tall structure in a new way reflected in the puddle.  Figuring that the light would be much better on the building later in the day, I took a chance and returned just before the sun had set in the West to some nice cross light wrapping around the uppermost part of the building. I was excited to see on my return that the gamble had paid off. The sky had remained clear and there was no overcast to block the sun. The late afternoon light gave me the texture on the structure that was lacking earlier in the day. The nice warm color of the light helped to give contrast against the blue sky background. Shallow depth of field worked to my advantage to isolate the top of the building from the surrounding liquid. I am glad that little blue reflection caught my eye and I took a second look away from what I was focusing on originally. I had planned out another image but this new angle moved me to create something out of my normal wheelhouse, and for that I am grateful.
